Satya Narayan Puja

Satya Narayan Puja is a popular ritual in Bengal, performed on full moon days or during family occasions like weddings and housewarmings. It is dedicated to Lord Vishnu in his Satya Narayan form, who symbolizes truth and prosperity.

The puja involves preparing a clean altar with an image of Satya Narayan and performing sankalpa. Offerings include fruits, sweets, tulsi leaves, and specially prepared prasad of sooji halwa, bananas, and milk. A vital part of the ritual is the recitation of the Satya Narayan Katha, which narrates stories of devotees blessed by Lord Vishnu. After the katha, arati is performed, and prasad is distributed. Bengalis believe this puja brings happiness, removes obstacles, and ensures family welfare.
