Ganpati Puja

Though Ganesh Chaturthi is more popular in Maharashtra, Bengalis also perform Ganpati Puja at the start of any auspicious event. Lord Ganesha is regarded as the remover of obstacles and the giver of wisdom.

In Bengali homes, Ganesh is worshipped especially during Durga Puja, where he is seated beside Maa Durga as her son. The rituals involve lighting a diya, chanting Ganesha mantras, and offering durva grass, modak, laddoo, and bananas. Devotees seek his blessings before beginning studies, business ventures, or family ceremonies. Ganesh idols are often crafted in clay, symbolizing purity and eco-friendliness. Thus, Ganpati Puja in Bengal emphasizes simplicity, devotion, and auspicious beginnings.
